Amazing Grace: The History and Theology of Calvinism
Religion/History
257 min; 2004
DVD $30 US
*****
Brilliant, brilliant, brilliant! Eric Holmberg, a one time Arminian, hosts this discussion of the roots and theology of Calvinism. Production values are astonishing, and the people Holmberg chooses to interview are top notch - D. James Kennedy, R.C. Sproul, Kenneth Talbot, Walter J. Chantry and others. He manages to get them to distill huge ideas and dynamic concepts in only a few short sentences at a time. If you buy nothing else from RP's "100 worth watching," get this. Valuable for pastors, teachers, home schoolers and the average Reformed believer who sort of "gets" Calvinism but isn't quite sure that he understands it all. If you enjoy Amazing Grace you'll be interested to know this same team has made another impressive documentary, Marks of a Cult, which outlines what exactly makes a cult a cult.
